High School
The pedagogical model of the school is designed in accordance with the conceptual frameworks of Teaching for Understanding (TFU Teaching for Understanding) and Design Backwards Learning (Understanding by Design Model of Backwards). Thus classes are designed from the back to the front, and follow the development of competencies based on the standards of both the Dominican Republic Ministry of Education and international standards selected for each area and department.
We foster a teaching style in which critical and creative thinking, and problem solving capabilities are promoted. Our pedagogical model also adapts to our changing environment by integrating contemporary perspectives oriented towards the construction of knowledge and the development of thought.
From its philosophy, the goal of CIBS is to form individuals who build their knowledge, understand what they have learned and independently apply their knowledge to new situations, becoming entrepreneurial people who responsibly respond to society through actions that reflect the values and virtues which contribute to peaceful coexistence and global progress. The capacity for problem solving, analysis, debate and collaborative work, as well as the ability to plan, monitor and evaluate students’ learning is only possibly through teaching that relies on processes and competency.
